Post Graduate, Looking For An Apprenticeship In Manchester

Hello!

My names Jessica and I'm a graduate from a Art Course studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, looking for an apprenticeship or someone to train me in Tattooing. Throughout my degree I specialised in Illustration, focusing on surrealism and organic art forms. Being on a textiles course I found didn't really suit my work style, the artwork I produced lent itself quite nicely to illustration and/or tattoos.

Since I started getting tattooed, I was introduced into the captivating world of tattooing. I loved the atmosphere of the studio, creative artists bouncing ideas of each other and professionalism that came alongside this.

As far as my own designs go, I enjoy creating unique pieces, influenced by not only my own interests but an array of popular imagery. For example I like portraiture and intricate line work, which are inspired by numerous artists, books etc. I like to add diversity in my designs, whether that being the subject matter on the style as a whole. I am always welcome to advice and suggestions .

If you are interested in seeing my work go to:

www.instagram.com/jessalice_art (Regular day to day drawings, upload at least once a day)

If anyone could help me, or point me in the direction of someone who can I would be most grateful.

Thank you for looking!

Nice lines and very consistent with your subject matter so that will help you find your lane. Won't be long before you find yourself in a studio.

Really neat stuff you have there. In terms of acquiring an apprenticeship, I just went on Google and visited them door to door with my portfolio. Just remember to be sincere and humble and don't give up. You have some really nice stuff!

To be honest this is definitely one of the better portfolios i've seen, I like your style.

The bad news is you're always better off applying to the studios in your area as a lot of studios really don't advertise apprenticeships because the tattooists usually take on friends before considering advertising.

You have plenty of work so it would be best if you chose your top 20-40 pics, put them in a portfolio and pop into your favorite 5 reputable studios first. At my studio artists ALWAYS have a few minutes to spare if someone pops in for a chat but if you're worried then you can always give them a call beforehand to double check.

Thank you so much for the feedback and advice . Completely in agreement with visiting studios . That's been my approach so far, I've had some really good feedback but unfortunately haven't had any luck so far, but it's early days. A few studios mentioned advertising myself on here so fingers crossed someone will be interested. Thank you again for the feedback .

Are you only looking in Manchester or would you be willing to travel? Some studios do pay apprentices it just depends how cool the boss is really.

I'm pretty open to be honest, ideally Manchester as I know a lot of apprenticeships are unpaid. But if I were to be paid I would definitely consider travelling for the right place.
