Smile Seeking Feedback/Advice Please

Hello,
I'm looking for some feedback of any sort on my portfolio so far.
I am very self conscious about my work and would like to hear people's opinions or any tips on things I can do to progress.
I haven't yet built up the confidence to start going into shops so I am hoping posting on here will help with that. Tattooing has always been my goal in life and I want to be the best I can be so don't be worried about giving me your honest opinion.
Any replies will be massively appreciated.

P.S some pieces are yet to be painted

Thankyou,
Ben.

Work is looking cool. The two most important things when it comes to breaking into the industry are
a) draw and paint on your own time without needing anyone to tell you to do it. Prove your work ethic by showing a portfolio you have obviously put a lot of time and effort into.
b) nut up and take it into tattoo shops you think you would like to apprentice at in person, look them in the eye and speak clearly, be friendly and humble, accept their criticism without getting defensive and if they tell you to bounce keep trying till it works out.

Looks like you've got one step sorted, time to crack on with the other one.
Good luck mate!

Thank you so much for the advice and kind words,
Confidence is a major issue for me but I will have to bite the bullet and start going into shops if I want to get anywhere.

Thanks again,
Ben

You won't become magically confident once you get through your apprenticeship, or when you've been tattooing one year, or ten years even. I truly don't even think anyone giving you positive reinforcement or patting you on the back is going to make you confident either. It's like a muscle, you've gotta work it out. The more you flex it the stronger it'll get. Theres a big difference between being humble and being self deprecating as well, you can be receptive to information without needing to put yourself down.

I have been putting off going into shops thinking that if I get turned away it will make my confidence even worse but I suppose you are right really. I think as you say it is finding the balance between being humble and being completely negative.

Although I can't talk from experience, I can't draw at all!! Putting off going in to shops incase they say no, you may miss that opportunity of them saying yes. I won't try to give advice because you've just had it from probably the best person on the forum to give it to you when it comes to getting a career in tattooing. But all the best and don't miss out on that opportunity because you never tried. You'll always regret the things you didn't do, not the things you tried.

I know I couldn’t believe it when I had a reply, let alone from someone like Dan. Completely humbled by his words of advice.
It’s very true what you say as well Jack, it has always been my dream and I will end up regretting it in years to come if I don’t do something about it now.
Going to give myself a massive kick up the ass, time to get on with it!
Thankyou for the pep talk,
Ben
