It dont need to make sense its not meant to be read out. Alternately some deep relaxation cd OR very physical work (digging a garden over) sometimes have put my head in a better place.

WHY would a computer suddenly decide to not play a DvD?
it went something like this ..
1, played disc one, watched whole disc
2, insert disc 2,,,nothing
3, insert random dvd, plays no problem
4 try disc 2 again ..nothing
5 put in disc 1 again nothing
6 try different random disc, plays no problem
7 try disc 2 in a different computer...nothing!!
the disc's that suddenly won't play are new and have only been out of the box about twice prior to this...disc one played fine at first ,,,but now none of the discs in that boxset play, they are the correct region etc and the computer has been restarted etc...this was on wednesday,,,but still trying them again today ,,,nothing...its just baffling us.

I know it sounds silly but have you got an actual DVD player to try them in?
I had the same problem, but with my DVD player,(would play certain discs but not the one we wanted to play) but they played fine on the laptop. Cleaned the DVD player out, it worked fine to watch the end of the film but then it packed up so had to buy a new DVD player.
If it won't play on a DVD player, it could be the discs. If it does it could well be the DVD player on your computer.

Yeah our DVD player did this on its way out, its less than a year old as well. It used to just be specific disks it didnt like, it was the kids ones at first, so I assumed its cause they had scuffs and marks on and just thought it was a very sensitive machine, but then one day it did it with a brand new disk straight out of the wrapper, and just became more and more tempremental and now it doesnt pay anything.

she also just said ..when she first got them she tried them in the ps1, and that played them in black n white, ,,so hopefuly it is just down to these disc's been a bit odd...
thanks guys ...

Does the ps1 have DVD playing capabilities? I didn't think that it did, I thought it was the PS2 that was the first one to play DVD's?
