Hm, I'm not really far from Leicester and have many friend who still live there, so I might go along and see what's up, but as pay-on-the-door costs the same as advanced tickets, I'll just pay on the day.
I'd be interested to see which artists attend.

I live in Leicester and so do many other Tattoo lovers so expect it will be well supported. Looking forwards to it already.

will catch ya soon mate | cheers mate and to you and yours. Will definitely catch up soon:
re the shows, I admire anyone who puts on a show for the benefit of the industry and to promote it. What is a ever increasing/depressing scenario is the obvious money making attempts that blatantly don't give a shit for artists, traders, collectors, customers or attendees. There is only so much people can financially manage to do and with the current economic trends it could soon become apparent how much, overloading of the convention calendar will dilute the whole industry even further.

Never a shortage of people looking to make a fast buck Will wait and see who they get to stand before I get excited.

It started to get a bit more of a loss leader for artists some years ago but they can take it on the chin a few times a year, for the non monetary benefits. The customer though, expense has continued to rise in line with the amount of events and the increased costs to attend......wages/income haven't always kept pace. I always hope a show succeeds and all enjoy and do well but i honestly cant see how many more shows can be accommodated into the calendar before the whole thing implodes and the cool thing is not to attend....hope i'm wrong. |

Artful dodger is obviously entitled to his opinion, but for me the Leicester convention is a long awaited event. I can't actually believe it hasn't happened before but I can, unfortunately, believe the cynicism with which it has been received. Spot on that it's not as big as the convention that are well established...could that be because ...hmmm....it's THE FIRST ONE? The East Midlands has some great studios and artists why should Leicester not host an event to promote them?] And I have been well and truly ripped off and patronised by some of the " tattooing people" that run other conventions in the uk.
With the exception of London and Brighton most conventions started small this convention has the potential to be another success if well supported by said tattooing people. But then why get involved with it when you can sit about gloating and boring folk with your clique driven attitude.
