My wife just got a very simple black line tattoo of a wave on the back of her neck. It's been about 3 weeks now and it's healed up but the ink is bleeding/creeping pretty badly (photo attached). Honestly, it looks like amateur work to me but she said it was the shop owner that did the work. She's going around to some local shops to get opinions on fixing it but I'm curious if this is common and what might have gone wrong. Taking a shot in the dark, all I can think of is maybe they went too deep or not deep enough?

I'm looking for some advice on tattoo design. I already have a tattoo on my neck that says "Freedom" (images below). The word has meaning to me. I had it done during a home leave from an open prison where I was locked up for a computer hacking crime where I was fighting for the freedom on information.





Anyway, I'm wanting to add to it. As it stands it's looking a bit plain and bland. I was thinking something along the lines of this ... http://celebof.info/wp-content/uploa...Tattoos-1.jpeg

That sort of design, but I don't know how it'd work around the lettering. I want the lettering to be the prominent part of the tattoo. It likely needs fattening up and reworking a little.

I like the shaded patterned effect. on the tattoo design above and the way it goes onto the shoulder.

But, I'm no artist. I plan to go in to speak to a tattoo designer this week and see what he can suggest but was looking for some ideas from other forum members.

I don't open up so much really, but I have been here now for a while so thought I would tell you guys some news. My wife and I are expecting the patter of little feet very soon. We are having a little girl on the 1st of August who will be born by C section. Excited is not the word for how I feel. I am so blessed to share my life with my wonderful wife. She gave me my son 18 months ago and now a daughter, it couldn't be any better.
My son was born 6 weeks early due to a fall my wife had while in our rice fields so I never got to see my son born, I only got home 4 days after as that was the fastest I could get there. But now I am counting the days (26 left) until I get home ready for the birth. I keep telling her to relax, take it easy, rest, just so I know I will be home in time, but she is not one to sit and do nothing!!
My flights are booked already, Qiqihar to Beijing, then Beijing to Manila. Then a 5 hour drive home. I have not seen my little son and wife for nearly 5 months and I miss them dearly. I can't wait to be home. I am there for 8 weeks then return to China but as soon as my daughter's passport comes they will join me.
I just wanted to share.

I've wanted a realistic pin up portrait for quite a long time now, in fact there's 3 images in particular I really can't choose between and all strike a chord with me for various reasons so here's my thoughts...I'm wondering if I could get away with having one portrait on the front of my thigh, one on the side and one on the back, just not sure if it might be too much!!? I would go to the same artist so that the style and finish is all the same and therefore would flow better. The portrait I want to start with is the one I've (hopefully) attached to this post but want to change the hair colour to bright blonde and more flowers in the background.

Thoughts?

Hi guys,

I've been looking at getting a full sleeve for a while now but I am struggling to think of a theme, I want a sugar skull and a few roses to be included within the sleeve but I'm unsure on placement and what other elements I could include. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've been tattooing professionaly for about 13 years, and working on it for almost twice that time.
Just recently able to start attending conventions now that my children are grown and raising their own families, and twice divorced...
I started at a local convention as my first earlier this year, and I'm scheduled for 2 others within the next 6 weeks.
I've been growing rather stagnant over the last several years, and due to local circumstances and economy, I've never had much time to get past the thousands of people that, for the most part in my area, prefer flash and seem to prefer price over quality. Be this as it may, I do my best to do the best work I can produce using the designs people bring me, or insist on choosing from flash. Not that I never get to talk someone into letting me create something inspired by reference rather than a duplication of flash, but definitely haven't had a lot of luck and chances to create myself as an artist.
It's a very long story of hospital stays from numerous injuries while trying to keep a family secure, and raise my children, while also keeping a shop running and not starve in the process that has hindered me from being financially able to sit back and offer up my own art at a price that will allow people to open their mind to something they can't find on the wall, so I won't go into all of that.

My question is simply: What advice from experienced convention artists can I get on staying within protocol and respect?
And any other advice on how to make my future of touring some of the countries many tattoo conventions an enjoyable success would be appreciated.

I'm not completely lacking in artistic skill, and I do enjoy recreating certain styles found in various sketchbooks and such without trying to pass it off as original work but rather giving even inspirational credit to whatever artist the idea does come from. Technically speaking, I consider myself a good tattooist and have kept a shop going for a decade in a moderately large city and have many more old clients that trust the work I do than I have first timers to my place. I've just not gotten to the point where I can truly create "MY" work consistently, which is where I'm trying to improve myself a great deal.

So after months of working a shitty job in a pizza place, and various jobs in kitchens doing the scivvy jobs, I got an interview with "the hilton" (a massive posh hotel brand) and i have been shortlisted for interview to train under their head chef, a michelin starred chef. xD this is super exciting news for me so thought id share, lets just hope i dont mess the final interview up :D

I'm ashamed to admit I was part of the grunge/goth movement as a young teenager some 10 years ago, we were kind of emo before there were emos which might give you a clue as to why I'm inquiring about tattooing over scar tissue.

How does it look? Are there any particular things I should avoid / favour? I have some great ideas for sleeves but obviously want something that will cover rather than accentuate.

Is there anyone empathetic on here that would be willing to undertake some work for me? I've had loads done before but I can't face the shame of booking into one of my local studios to have sleeves done :( If there are any other former cutters on here I'd love to hear from you!!
