Skin Deep 182 – March 2010 – On Sale 9th February!
Hurrah for the days gradually getting lighter! As we slowly emerge from our winter dens and embrace the promise of warmer, elongated hours of sunshine (rather than rain), the allure of conventions galore is making us all chipper and rosy again. Let the good times roll…
Ed Perdomo is a Colombian gentleman who takes much inspiration for his grin-inducing tattoos from animated movies, resulting in quirky, colourful creations. As Ed says, “I really think that out there are way too many people who have joined the dark side…it’s time to lighten up!”
From New York City, we showcase the work of
Caesar of the Greys and his intricate, highly detailed creations. Deft highlights add enormous depth to Caesar’s tattoos and this Hungarian-born artist works long and hard to ensure his customers receive some of the best black and grey work out there.
We take a trip back in time to explore the world of
Mick Cope, an artist with a myriad of tales from back in the day; his early forays in tattooing were conducted in an arcade public toilet…and that’s just the beginning! A wonderful and charismatic character, Mick’s shenanigans are documented with great care by Brendan Mudd of Inkfish Studios.
Dave Wiper works out of Modern Savage in Wakefield and isn’t afraid to give an answer, no matter what the subject may be! This straight-talking Yorkshire man loves his biomechanical tattooing but won’t shy away from anything.
Our cover model,
Drew, talks us through her work as a tattoo apprentice and a Gods Girl, accompanied by exquisite photography from Kelly Lind.
Full coverage comes from the
East Coast Tattoo Expo, and the
Castellon Show on the Valencian coast – two seaside shows in the same issue!
Ian, who regales us with a few stories about his collecting journey, presents one man, his dog, and an incredible array of black tattoo art.
The supplement for March is the
Skin Shots Sampler, a jam-packed taster of Skin Deep’s sister publication and featuring sumptuous snaps of incredible body art.
Fancy a journey around the underground tattoo culture of Tokyo? We take you there as we accompany
Gomineko Tours on their nine-day extravaganza for a once in a lifetime jaunt…
The regulars are here in the familiar guise of
Fallout,
Inkspot, and
Tattoo Tour, and now we’ve discovered how much fun talking in the third-person is, Skin Deep will continue to do so.
Enjoy!
