Default Cover Up In East Mids Area Thinking Japanese or Bio Mech

Hi all,

please go steady first post by me after months of just viewing the site.

We here's the story, back about 10 years ago when very young and very silly I had a taz devil tattoo done on my upper left arm, it has taz bursting through my arm and is brown, yellow and red in colour, a year later when still young and stupid I had a half tribal band underneath that, obviously now I hate both of them and would love to have them covered up but I really do not know where to turn so i'm hoping you kind wise people can help.

I have been looking at possible cover up's in more detail and thinking about it for a couple of years. I really do love Japanese designs mainly koi and or dragon with nice flowers, from what I have read Japanese is ideal for cover up because of the coulours that can be used.

Over the last few months I've really been looking into bio mech tattoo's really like the 'darkness' of them but do they work as cover up designs?

I know a real contrast in designs and styles but they are things that really float my boat, I've learnt from my horrendous mistakes and really want to get it right and really would like some opions from the 'experts' to see if these potential cover up's are possible or not.

I have been looking at Wendy's work at Kustom Kulture as she does alot of cover up work but is a good three hours away from me, I am open to travelling but was wondering if there was anyone you can recommend closer to home, I just want to get it right.

More local artists I have looked at are gerry carnelly and steve potton does anyone have experiance of these people regarding cover up work?

I really look forward to your reply's.

Thanks

James

Bio works really well as a cover up. I have had some old tribal and Celtic band covered (after some laser work) with Bio. Mine is colour but black and grey Bio would work just as well.

Hi JMR, another newbie here

I think Gerry would be an ideal first port of call for this.

Do you have experiance of Gerry yourself?

Have you had any cover up work yourself?

Have you had any Japanese or Bio Mech work that Gerry has done?

Sorry for all the questions i'm not even sure if my existing stuff can be covered so I am asking lots of questions and hopefully come up with the answers i'm hoping for!

Thanks

James

My personal experience is that It's worth going to see the artists you want to do the work and leave it up to them If they think it can be covered?

The artists will have seen these requests probably hundreds if not thousands of times and as they will be doing the work will be best suited to tell you if it's possible?

I went to see someone regarding a cover up who I've wanted work from for ages and they were really cool about the cover up and advised a few laser sessions first to lighten it up.

Again I am going on there experience as It's going to be there work on display

No, no and no........ Tell I really know what I'm talking about

Am very new into tattoos, but once I get into something I get a bit obsessed, especially with regards to the particular talents and "quirks" of local artists....

No idea what his cover up work is like but his bio mech stuff is very good, and he's a really nice guy.

eta, Theresa @ Lifetime might be worth looking at too, some of her cover up work here: Theresa Gordon Wade's Cover ups Photo Album - MySpace Photos
