Default tattoos and alcohol.

Is it safe to drink alcohol after being tattooed as in a few hours later or is it not advised? I've heard a lot of conflicting advice from different sources and just need a simple answer, thank you !

I've always been told to avoid too much alcohol before, and definitely too much alcohol during, but I think you should be fine after.

I can't count the amount of times an artist has told me "you should go have a pint now" after a session.

there is no problem with drinking after a tattoo session,
the reason you should not drink before the tattoo is that it thins out your blood a lot, which will make you a bleeder, it is harder to get the pigment in when you got blood pushing out.

I never really do until a few days later, never before or during!

Agree with you, Mog. If it wasn't for the thought of a g&t or a big glass of wine, I don't know how I'd get through a long session ... . Also, Guinness is especially good if you've bled a lot and are feeling woozy. Strictly medicinal!

Yeah, same as the above. Never before or during but, it has to be said, there are few nicer pints/wine/spirits than the post ink drink!

A pint of Guiness to cool a large Bushmills in the downstairs bar of the Empire bar in Belfast after a 7hr session, hmmmm.

Ha ha , yeah until the next time, Scott! Seriously, I nearly spewed on Job De Quay when he tattooed my arm. I hadn't meant to drink a drop the night before, but friends turned up and, well the rest is history. The most horrendous 4 hours of my life! Like you, never again!!
