religious tattoos too common? reccomend any artists? Yorkshire

hey people,
i am sure this questions has been asked a million times on here but i am looking at getting a half sleeve done with a kind of good vs evil theme so the relgeious style, i have been trying to find the best artist for this, a lot of the good ones i have asked have stoped doing this kind of theme as they find it boring with so many people having it done.
can anyone recommend anyone?
Paul Goss looks good at Artisan tattoo studio, anyone heard of his work?
oh and i am in Leeds but dont mind travling a bit for the right dude.
cheers

Good vs evil is getting more popular for sure. But it is important to find the right artist for what you want.

Couple of artists i would say are very good at this sort of stuff is meehow but you would have to travel to essex.

Failing that you can't get better than Lowrider tatoo from LA they come to uk a couple of times a year. They are coming to London tattoo convention in September.

Google Jose Lopez, Jun Cha, Miguel Ochoa and Noah Minuskin and you will see some amazing work on their websites.

hey thanks for the advise, that is exactly the kind of thing im after, in fact it is a Jun Cha tattoo that i would like doing, his work is amazing but not sure who is the UK could do the same kind of work.
Meehow would be quite a travel but if he is the right guy could be could be worth it.
thanks for your help bud.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 10:31 AM

Meehow's work is exceptional. He is truly worth travelling for. Also John Anderton is amazing but into more dark stuff.

Jun Cha is insane. Have met the lowrider guys a few times and they are such a cool bunch. All so down to earth and genuine. What tattoo did you wan or what ideas do you have?
I wouldn't agree with copying a tattoo entirely or anyone especially someone as well known as Jun Cha. Obviously you can get inspiration and ideas of another artist.

Also Rose Price of Oragnic Element is great

Yeah definitely give Meehow a shout, his work is amazing, but do not copy someone elses tattoo, it is very disrespectful. Take reference and ideas, and get an artist to design you something original.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 10:35 AM

That's what i think. Copying someones tattoo exactly is not the way to go. Offcourse they are always going to be simmilar tattoos out there but try to make yours as unique as possible. There's a bunch of talented artists in the UK so i am sure you can find someone great to do the work.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 10:38 AM

Thomas Pollard is also excellent.

cheers guys, just had a look at Rose Price and that is indeed some cool work.

yeah i agree too with copying work, didnt want an exact copy, there are a couple of pieces i like by Jun cha, the below is one, I cant have a full sleeve though because of my work so though along the lines of the top part with the good vs evil, maybe the tail wrapped around the arm and changing a few bits, just that kind of look and i would ask the artist i went to to but his own twist in.

or i though of this one, i like the inside arm, and i thought have some kind of good figure like the bottom face on my shoulder and the skull like face on the inside of the arm.

but you get the idea of the kind of thing im after.
cheers.

Thomas Pollard does look good too, your spoiling me with choices now, i would like to find someone a little closer ideally as i am sure i will have to make a few trips there from Leeds but it looks like travelling might be needed, its more important to find the right person i guess.

Yes he is very good. The right artist is worth travelling for as you should be able to get it done in 1 sitting. Did you want half sleeve or 3/4 ?

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 11:07 AM

Try again should apear now.

_markg 19-04-2013 11:08 AM

loving the first and last one, i should have just talked to you in the first place instead of pulling my hair out, most appreciate the help bud :)

_markg 19-04-2013 11:13 AM

well i sometimes have to wear short sleeve shirts for work in hot places so my boss agreed half sleeve is ok but think he might have something to say about a 3/4 but i could always just say the tattoo artist got carried away :)
if they can mannage it in one sitting i wouldnt mind traveling at all.
so if you had to pick between your recommendations for this kind of stuff who would you go to? and i might give them a call today.

The 1st picture is mine done by Jose Lopez of Lowrider tatoo ;) lol

Well all are amazing artists mate but they would have between a 2-3 month waiting list usually but they are all worth waiting for.

Perosnally i think meehow's work is probably the best in the uk and his shading is ultra realistic having said that Rose has done some stunning religious pieces.

COuple of religious pieces by Rose Price.

_markg 19-04-2013 11:44 AM

yeah there sweet by rose and i'll have a look at the lowrider website too for a few more ideas, think i will have to put my thinking cap back on now as some of those designs i wouldnt mind incorporating into what im after. cheers for all that mate.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 11:54 AM

Well there's plenty of cool ideas there i am sure you will come up with something cool. Post pics or any ideas you might have. And obviously when you finally get the tattoo post pics as will love to see this.

_markg 19-04-2013 12:04 PM

will do bud, cheers again.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 12:07 PM

No problem glad i could help. What sort of budget do you have can i ask?

i would defo reccomend the Lowrider guys if you e-mail them they can do something amazing.

brother10 19-04-2013 12:10 PM

as you're in Leeds i'd suggest checking Nigel Kurt out at Funhouse as well. he's in Barnsley i think.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 12:13 PM

Nigel Kurt looks pretty good as well and bonus he is local :)

_markg 19-04-2013 12:37 PM

i would love to have it done my one of the lowrider guys but i can imagine they have a very very long list of people wanting to see them when they are in the UK, i think i would have around the 500 mark for now but i guess i could add to the tattoo if i need more , but i would hope i could get a local guy cheaper for around that.

Nigel Kurt good call, i have already looked at his work and was tempted to go see him tomorrow, i might just do that as i have heard some good reports, wont hurt to go have a look.

Rhodes 19-04-2013 12:58 PM

I would check out Mark Gray at Modern Body Art in Birmingham.

BASSCUBE 19-04-2013 01:05 PM

wow Mark Gray looks excellent as well.

yes the Lowrider guys are a little bit more expensive than that but worth every penny imo.

Nigel's stuff is good but I'm pretty sure he doesn't do religious stuff? Pretty sure it's the same with John Anderton too.

Says on johns website stuff like this gets deleted from his emails without getting looked at .... I hear this style isn't liked buy allot of artists cause it's mostly a speciality and very common ..... I blame beckham :)

Only guys in my work who have a sleeve is this sort of stuff , poorly done , not unlike Beckhams tattoos

I was going to but was Ill but her work is great.

LORD 28-04-2013 04:06 PM

Religious tattoos are popular because they have a really cool style.
Look at some of the best artists out there. Michaelangelo, Davinci, Bernini all inspired and notified by religious and it's spiritual elements.
