Name dropping seems to work very well for me, also friends that put in a word for you also has helped.

All good advice ^^^^

I recently had an artist suggest that I include a picture of my very pale pasty white skin every time that I email artists that do colour work. It seems like good advice. And if the photos of the spot (s) that are available just happen to show some of the great work you already have, that probably wouldn't hurt either.

BTW - sounds like you have excellent taste in artists

I agree with sending a picture of the area you want tattooed helps weed out time wasters. It's like trying to hook up; stop beating around the bush, show the goods and go from there.

A few of the things you shouldn't mention in your e-mails:

-asking how much they charge. Expect to pay the running rate for top artists, and settle the cost at the very end
-asking when they will be in ___________ city, unless you're specifically asking about a particular convention spot.
To me this is an immediate non-committal time-waster. I can't imagine how many such e-mails they get. "Hey man when will you be in Seattle, London, Pittsburgh, etc". It's probably annoying to even answer and it likely just gets shredded among the masses. Most artists don't have any issues getting bookings when they're travelling just by posting on their instagram so they likely have little desire to go back and forth with someone who may back out anyway

I mention this every time. Pale white skin, and I heal well. I also show healed shots of my tattoos. Nicklas Westin was like a kid in a sweet shop when I turned up in studio lol. Said he's used to tattooing dark, sun dried skin in Spain ))

I get this a lot too. apparently my skin is excellent for tattooing. Must be the blonde thing.

As my grandmother used to say, "I wish I'd been born rich instead of beautiful".

This was the first thread you ever started. It's nostalgic.

I was so young back then. Time has not been my friend.
