Default Woman+Animal headress - advice

Hey all.

Trying to help a friend out with the desire to have one of these tattoos. They weren't too sure where to start but after a chat they've indicated they like and think the neo traditional style would suit it best, and are preferring a thigh piece.

Next step is finding an artist. I don't think they're sold anymore on the first one they were looking at, but it's unlikely they're gonna just go to "the best" and hand over however much it costs. So I can't tell them to do that.

With that in mind, with something of this size and in this style, do you think they're looking at more than 10 hours of work? I know all artists work at slightly different speeds, but I know a lot of people just starting out really don't understand how much it costs to get a good looking tattoo.
For example, it'd probably not that great if he gets a quote of £400, but with so many artists to choose from and at different price points, you gotta decide what level of work you want to afford.

What do you reckon is gonna be realistic in the North of the UK for a good colour thigh piece like this?

Obviously it varies from artist to artist, but I know the mvtattoo takes about 6 hours, maybe 7 or 8, per thigh piece. He does neo trad, and specializes in women with varying motifs. If I had to guess I'd say probably about 8 hours.

I can't think of any UK artists that aren't going to be hella pricey, as those are the only ones I'm familiar with since I'm from the US. I'm sure Patrick or Karka will have a good amount of suggestions though.

Obviously depends on what size they want, thigh is a big area but you could do a decent size piece (A4) size in probably 8-12 hours.

Who is best to do it in the UK? Some suggestions below, I donít know prices for any of these artists but these will give you the best piece in my opinion. Chris Green in particular, really impressed with his work.

You also have Isnard Barbosa in Dublin, an hour flight from anywhere in the UK more or less. Unless you are extremely lucky to live in the same place as a world class artist then you are going to have to travel a bit anyway.

Great suggestions above. Would add Drew Romero to that list:

As for how long it would take, I think itíll vary a bit from artist to artist. If you asked someone like Xam, heíd say about five hours.

You also have Sneaky Mitch in Leeds who could do a job on it. Very reasonably priced too

She's in Australia more often than not, I think she mostly comes back to the UK for conventions.

Who did the sketch? Just it looks like Alex Bage's stuff and he is in the north east anyway.

Edit: just seen the words neo traditional, there was an ad blocking that bit! What about Scott Taylor (Newcastle) or James Armstrong (Hull) as well as others mentioned on here.

My thigh pieces took 4 and 8 hours respectively, they're the same size so depends on the artist and obvs the exact size of the tattoo, probably looking at 300-500 at a guess.
