Different metals/minerals make up different colors of ink, although I'm not 100% this has an effect on infections. A tattoo artist could probably explain this way better.

Unless someone is allergic to something in a particular color, the brightness of the color doesn't have anything to do with it. Any color can get infected.

That should have zero effect on infections. Metals can't cause an infection. They could potentially help prevent it, for example silver has antibacterial properties. But they definitely can't cause one.

Even if you're allergic to a metal and have a reaction, that's not an infection either.

Are we talking about tattoo ink or poison frogs?

Probably more to do with the colour brown in general. Not the ingredients of the ink, itís just a bitch to get in solid. Maybe Steve was feeling the pressure to get it mega smooth and hit it a bit too hard for a bit too long. Could also very easily be something OP exposed it to accidentally up in the mountains and nothing to do with Steveís application. Iíve talked to people about altitude possibly effecting blood flow and changing the way tattoos heal on certain people, especially those who are older or already have circulation problems. Itís just a theory though.

I wish he'd come back and let us know he's OK.

To be fair, his only posts were in this thread, so I don't think he actively peruses the boards. He logged in a day or two after his last post (so two days ago). Hoping he's not dead tho

I don't think he expected anyone to recognize his tattoo and now is wishing he hadn't brought this up.

Update us OP and let us know if it's healed okay. That looked sore.
