Default Bringing your own ink

Would it be offensive to the artist to bring in some ink that you would like used in your tattoo? I've found a particular set of ink that gives the look I'm after. If the bottles are brand new and sealed is this acceptable?

Thanks!

I would definitely give you the stink eye if I was an artist and you did that, unless there was a very good reason like allergies

Yeah, I think you'll get laughed at.

Your best bet is to ask the artist before hand

There is a lot more to the tattoo application than the brand of ink used. In fact I know that a lot of artists who are sponsored by a particular brand of ink don't really use the brand they advertise.

I'm curious why you want to bring your own ink.

It's just a guess, but I bet he found a particular set of ink that gives the look he's after.

I asked Steve Moore about this today. He said he'd be very hesitant to use an ink set he isn't familiar with. Using unfamiliar ink adds an unnecessary layer of difficulty to the situation.
