Still Not Black Enough...

Issue 190 of Skin Deep arrived in the office yesterday which means that if you’re a subscriber, your copy should be hitting the mat anytime soon - the rest of you will just have to wait a little longer - I think it’s due out on the shelves on the 21st. As the new guy around here, you can pretty much imagine that it’s rather a double edged sword waiting for the feedback to come in but she’s a good looking issue, that’s for sure.

It’s been an interesting mag to put together. There’s one thing especially that I’d like to strap a rocket to and light the fuse over and that’s the Buena Vista Tattoo Club feature. I’m big on people who work hard and drive their cars using all six senses and the more I look, the more I’m finding artists like this and it’s very exciting, but in this particular instance, Volko and Simone both gave very freely of their time and energy - when you see the spreads, I hope you’ll agree it was well worth it.

This is also a good time to thank everybody else involved too - writers, photographers and artists alike who have all been invaluable, I couldn’t have done it without you...

Where next? Well, we’ve just put the finishing touches to the new issue of Skin Shots which will hit the shelves towards the end of the month and I’m back building up the next issue of Skin Deep. What have we got in store? That would be telling but when you do see it, you’re not going to be able to take your eyes of it - but there’s no way I’ll be able to get through a whole month of blogging without mentioning some bits and pieces of what’s in there, so stay tuned.

No introductory blog post would be complete without me asking for you web dwellers to get involved. Feel free to voice your opinions at the forum, but if you have a point that’s relevant to one of my posts, lay it on me. As for what you can expect to find here, who knows, it depends on what happens day by day.

I’ll be posting a few times a week and it will be hooked into both the Skin Deep facebook and myspace pages - but bear with me while I embrace the technicalities involved in that. Twitter will also become active. Whether or not we can get any more blood out of this stone remains to be seen but the heart is willing.

More tomorrow...
