Exclamation Watch this space?

Hello people,

My name's Slim and I am currently in the process of writing a sit-com based in a tattoo shop. As all of you in the tattoo community already know, it is a rich source of diversity, humour and, occasionally pathos - all the best bits of life - and ripe for an alternative to the current dross being spewed from the old haunted goldfish bowl in recent times (have you seen that Frank Skinner show - Shane? Shocking!)
To this end, I am looking for two things. Firstly any real life comical tattoo related / alternative lifestyle type stories would be graciously recieved - I'm not asking for others to do all the work while I reap the rewards, I'm just very keen for it to reflect the REAL tattoo world, in all it's diversity and honesty, rather than an unrealistic, sanitised for TV type pile of preconcieved bull****e. Any anecdotes used will be fully credited accordingly.

Secondly I would very much like to be able to 'hang out' in a few tattoo shops, soak up a bit of atmosphere, people watch etc. I am based in Dudley in the West Midlands but am willing to travel - within reason (unless you have a shop in Portugal and throw in a few weeks accomodation!)

I am not new to the tattoo scene, I have been getting inked for 11 years and even had a spell as a mobile tattooist but quit as I got tired of people wanting a cheap tattoo rather than a good tattoo. My old band, the Bo Dudleys played the Ink & Iron a couple of times, as well as the Derby Rock & Blues Festival.

Thanks for your time.

QB Slim

Talking Tales

Would love to help ...... BUT ..... now that I am nearing retirement .. (by choice, not by circumstance I might add) I have been writing for the last year about the laughs, tears, tall stories I have heard, and the characters I have met over the years.
I have already had acceptance by a publisher who is happy to wait another year for the finished product, so ..... my stories are precious at the moment.
Once I have it edited and proofed , as it is all on disk, I will be happy to make it available to the members here .... no charge of course ..... you never know .... you just might recognise the situation or tale!

Default dead girl

this happened when i went to get my first ever tattoo at dados (name sound familiar slim?!)
whilst getting tattooed on her belly a girl passed out cold. tattooist picks her up and lies her down on the sofa in the waiting area where it was a bit cooler .
as he turns his back on her a tramp walks in to the shop and starts staring realy close at this poor girl(who is still sparked out!). tattooist goes over to kick tramp out at which point the tramp asks if the girl is dead, cause he likes dead people, especialy dead girls......

So far I've been 18 months in the writing of mine ....
At first, I found it quite difficult to link from one tale to the next .... until it finally dawned on me .... set the stories out in sections and allow the natural humour/pathos carry the whole thing along.
Seems to be working so far (fingers crossed)
Good for you witing too Phil ....... is it Tattoo related, or are you more adventurous? They always say .. "Write what you know" ..... but this has given me the bug, and I might just have another stab at something once it's all done and put to bed!
Good luck with the writing .....

Nice tale Nick, thanks! I suppose dead girls smell better than other tramps!

And yes, I know Dado. When we played the Outlaws private enclosure at the Derby Rock and Blues, two songs into our set we realised that the smoke machine under the makeshift stage couldn't be turned off. Within minutes the entire marquee tent was so thick with fog you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Cue much confusion and bumping into each other. Then, from out of the mist strode a big ol' hairy-assed biker who loomed over me and growled, "Don't... go onto the moors..." before disappearing into the fog from whence he came! Advice I've religiously followed to this day.

you could always end each anecdote ' needless to say I had the last laugh' a la Alan Partridge (my hero)
