i went along to coventry and i must say i was dissapointed . After going last year i was hoping for better organisation , more to see and all round just a higher energy . To be honest most of the working artists told me that saturday was dead and i was there for a couple of hours on sunday when it still didnt seem amazing .
Im not trying to bitch about anything - but little stuff like GTS were selling on a stall on the main strip , and there wasnt even a seperate trade room . Im pretty sure anyone and his mate could've walked up and bought kit .
So was it just me ? Or was it a step backwards from last year ?

I didn't go this year (too close to London, since they moved the date) but I enjoyed last year, despite witnessing some of the worst in-progress work I've ever encountered at a convention.

I got the impression that it would only ever be a local convention for local people, so making it two days long was a mistake, I ean, really, who would travel to this and stay in a hotel overnight when London is just a week away?

The kind of problems you mention Oddboy are likely caused by not being able to afford the extra staff required to man and police trade only areas. It's a shame because there is definitely room on the circuit for smaller shows (not every convention has to be a Tattoo Jam or a London, or even a Brighton) but the organisers need to be realistic and not overstretch. A one day show with better organisation and stricter rules regarding quality control and sale of restricted items would get them much more respect in the long run.
