Default My first tattoo was a back piece...

I find it kind of odd that someone gets a whole backpiece as a first tattoo. I mean, I do admire that people can take that kind of plunge and it's very artistic and there aren't any random little tattoos you got before in the way, but how do you know you want to be TATTOOED? What if you start and find out you're a total wuss? Has anyone else done this or knows someone who has?

i had a little yin yang tattoo as my first but my second was a full backpiece.... in hindsight i wish id waited untill i had a better understanding of what can and cant be done in tattoos, as i went for a overly simplistic tattoo that i now want altered! but i think that if you are the type of person who wants and likes tattoos you just KNOW that whatever the pain or discomfort caused you will battle through it...

My first couple of (smallish) tattoos were more than a bit on the cr*p side, it took a while for me to understand what could be done. Once I realised I got stuck in! Got a design from hip to knee and had my first sleeve last year. I'm working on ideas and saving up for my second sleeve, but with a back piece I want it to be EXACTLY right and a work of art, so I'm thinking a bit more age and experience and research before I take that huge plunge.

Talking

I dipped my toes in the pain-coloured waters of tattooing, before having a damn good swim in them (Oh yes, I am the king of metaphor!!!).

A couple of small bits of crap before getting two full sleeves done over the course of approximately 18 months.

I'm now in the latter stages of aqquiring a full body suit, with roughly 70% (possibly slightly more than that) coverage. I don't care about artistic merit, and simply get stuff done because it looks cool. Usually the stuff I get done is sick as fuck too, so I like it even more.

What's the score with profanity on this forum?

Can words like ***** cunt and **** be posted up here?

Wink

Ha ha ha! I like that the most profane of expletives that I typed was posted unedited, whereas the old f.u.c.k and s.h.i.t. were replaced by asterisks....

I guess with hind sight I would have started with a big piece but ££ were very tight then , I too did not know whether I could handle it . I think starting with a full back is either very brave or a bit daft ! its a nice piece of work though !

My cousin got a tattoo outline on her back (not sure what it is) and never went back for the rest of it as it hurt too much. I'm so glad I've got more will power than that, other wise I might have some odd looking outlines on me!

i suppose that every new tattoo you get SHOULD in theory be better than the last... not on about the quality as much as the style of the tattoo beeing more to your liking...
