It's going onto your neck, and you've got no other work? Don't do it. Who's the artist?

Firstly the neck will be more sore than the upper arm.

Secondly are you sure you want to commit to having your neck done at such a young age, because like it or not, it WILL fuck up your job options in later life?

Thirdly, just keep your head still and try not to grit your teeth when they get to neck bit - if you grimace it pulls the neck muscles sideways and you'll end up with wobbly lines.

Have a good breakfast first, no alcohol tonight and hope you've picked a good artist

Good luck x

Unless you have chosen a fantastic artist prepare to regret it. I don't plan to have any work done on the sides of my neck untill I am very settled into a career I know wont be fussed about ink.

i am getting a tribal half sleeve.the artist who is doing it is someone local to me.there are a few of them where i live and they all have had fairly bad reviews from people i know except the guy i have chosen who seems a nice guy and has been completley honest with me about it all so i can trust him and feel comfortable. my cousin has had around 9 by him and the amount of detail in them is superb.so i feel i am in very good hands.

I would ay think VEEEERRRYYY carefully.

It's not just a matter of "you might have a lot of difficulty in the future with a neck tattoo"... But also, not patronising you for your age AT ALL, we're dynamic beings and we change A LOT over time - especially when we're young. You only have one neck and it's on show the whole time. This particularl design may well not be - and probably won't be - THE THING you want on your neck for eternity.

thanks for all the advice, im going to see him tomorrow to see what he thinks and whether i want it on my neck or just my arm.The job part is the only problem as i am having an interview soon for an apprenticeship in mechanics so i will probably just have it on my arm for now.

Sounds like a Dusk till Dawn sleeve?
Think very careful about having public skin, a lot of members on here have neck, hands tattooed but they have meduim to heavy coverage and have not taken the desion lightley.

At the end of the day its your choice, but neck tattoos are painful but having them removed by laser is a thousand times more painful.

*I would be concerned if a tattooist agreed to a first tattoo on the neck*

whats the name of the artist or the shop he works at? As i'm sure if he is a reputable tattooist someone on here will know of his work.
