Default Another Newbie in need of help.

I'm in Southampton -
I want a large backpiece done with Flowers (specifically Campsis flower) which I have never seen in a tattoo. Other than Darren Stares - who I will call Monday but doubt he will have an appointment, would anyone recommend an artist?

The problem I have is that each tattooist seems have a speciality. I found a guy call Mr Bubba in Winchester and his flowers are good and quite realisitc, his website isn't great though, but visited - some of his portraits are good - some fair - some not so good. He also has some really good reviews on local websites etc and was very comfortable to speak with. Another called BJ in Woolston, southampton who does good portrait work.

Any advice greatly appreciated, I'm aware it is a big piece so doing all the reserach beforehand!

Thanks

If you are going for a large piece of work like that I would be prepared to travel. there are some good artists in your area but check out Gerry Carnelly at Octopus tattoo in Derby. I know its a bit of a trek but his floral stuff is sweet as

thanks so much - I'm prepared to travel for this so I'll give them a call!

Excellent site - really essential for someone who doesn't have a clue and wants to know more - thanks for taking the time to post response.

Hi

I dont know as much as some people on here but from where you are, London or Brighton are fairly easy trips and have range of excellent tattooists.

Frith St and Kings Cross Studio do some great colour stuff (IMHO) and in Brighton you have Phil Kyle, or I am a fan of the work from NINE Boyces St.

There is of course http://www.vogeltattoo.co.uk/galleries.htm just up the road from you but I cannot see any pieces of that ilk on his site.

For flower's i'd follow Brim's advice and go for Gerry Carnelly, he does some very nice feminine style flowers.
